Our well drilling efforts in Gombe State, Nigeria continue to bless the lives of hundreds of people. We have been especially pleased with the response from Muslim villages that have received a well. Recently Hope Springs provided a well for a second Muslim village. Rambi Ayala, our Director of Operations, was just given special recognition by being honored
with his second Turbaning. This is a special Islamic ceremony reserved for special accomplishments that have significant effect on local villages.
As you will see from the pictures that follow, there is a lot of pomp and circumstance associated with the ceremony. During the ceremony a red cap is the placed on the head of the honoree and serves as a placeholder for the turban. White cloth is wrapped around the cap to shape the turban on the persons head. Special speeches are giving by the distinguished guests. A reception
follows with food and special dancing for entertainment.
We deeply appreciate the special recognition given to our Director of Operations Rambi Ayala for his service to these communities.
Unlike many parts of the world relationships between Christians and Muslims in Gombe State are very cordial and filled with cooperation and mutual respect. When we began our drilling operation here we were determined to provide wells on the basis of greatest need not ethnic background.
